| I decided to tackle some rust problems on my car a few months ago. The hardest part to do is probably the engine bay because the engine has to go out, etc. Since pulling the engine is not cheap I thought it would be a good idea to combine all the work and get another engine, turbos, transmission, and sort out the suspension and tyre rubbing issues. Dee had an engine with some nice parts for sale in the classifieds, as well as a couple of rebuilt turbos, so I got those from him for a great price. I ordered some extra parts from Kyle and Specialty Z as well. I was not unhappy with my transmission but I did not want to take any risks so I opted for the Specialty Z built auto. Check out my profile for all the details. By the way, the engine bay is now painted silver grey. I got my car back yesterday and driving it was quite an experience! It pulls like there is no tomorrow and because the suspension is now properly adjusted it feels rock solid on the road. Previously I had all the bolt-ons (downpipes, SZ exhaust, boost controller, pop charger) and response was great. I would say that response with the larger turbos is just as good as before. Apparently all those big tubes do make a difference. (^_~) The built auto along with the high stall converter certainly help as well. It reaches 200 km/h as if it were nothing and it keeps pulling strongly well past 240 km/h. When I stomp on the throttle while cruising it downshifts instantly and goes into hyperspace. The SZ built auto is the best tranny that I have ever experienced, there is no way in hell that I would ever switch to manual. Those large turbos and that tranny really complement each other, talk about synergy! Some issues that I have now is: - The car sits lower. I have lower profile tyres up front; 245/30 - 18 versus 245/40 - 18. The larger tyres rubbed against the inner lining and that problem has been solved with the smaller diameter. But speed bumps are no fun. Perhaps 245/35 - 18 would suffice. - With the bigger pipes the car is now much noisier! Let's see if those venturis can help dampen that noise a bit.
